At Coffee Space, we are proud to offer a wide range of exclusive and rare coffees from all over the world. Thanks to the use of a 100-gram roaster, we can also optimally roast nano-lots of 5 kg.
To our knowledge, we at Coffee Space are the only ones using a 100-gram roaster to produce exclusive rarities. This unique setup allows us to process tiny batches of only a few kilograms of coffee beans each. Even though these "nano-batches" are small, we can develop a highly individualized roasting profile for each coffee. And afterwards, we still have enough green coffee to offer it for sale. Typically, even on a smaller roaster, a minimum amount of coffee is required per batch. Depending on the size of the roaster, an entire lot would need to be roasted in one go. This makes nano-batches unattractive for most small roasters. Our 100-gram roaster allows us to treat each charge carefully and individually, developing the perfect roast profile for the specific characteristics of each bean.
The advantages of this process are varied:
- Tailor-made roasting profile: Because we roast in small batches, we can tailor our roasting profiles to the specific characteristics of the beans in many cycles and still have enough for sale. This results in rare coffees with complex and intense flavors that are distinguished by their higher density and intensity.
- Reproducibility: With the Ikawa Pro 100x, we have the best roaster that Ikawa has to offer, a company that has long been the standard for sample roasters worldwide. We appreciate the Pro 100x because it automatically reproduces profiles that have been developed with high reproducibility, giving us the highest consistency at the highest level.
- Freshness and quality assurance: Because we roast the beans on demand, we guarantee their freshness and ensure that they are never stored for longer than necessary. This contributes to the highest quality and freshness of the finished product.
Disadvantages
- The main disadvantage is that the effort per gram of coffee is very high and therefore the profit margin is small. But it allows us to offer coffee in unique quality.
